Price File Review for hospitals

Know your price file is right before your executive signs.

Price File Review checks your hospital's posted machine-readable file against 45 CFR 180.50 and the CMS v3 data dictionary, then checks what CMS's validator doesn't: whether the numbers hold together, and whether the public and CMS can find the file. You get findings to fix before your executive signs the next update. The attestation stays with your hospital.

How the review works

  1. Tell us which file. Send the link to your posted file or yourcms-hpt.txt. Before the review starts, Percentry discloses any relationship with your price-file vendor.
  2. We check the file against 45 CFR 180.50. Rule-based automated checks test it against each requirement in the CMS v3 data dictionary. Some requirements can only be confirmed with your own records, such as whether every payer and service is included.
  3. We check the numbers and the posting. Do the minimum and maximum match the negotiated dollars? Is the file posted the way the rule requires, with cms-hpt.txt, links, and file naming? CMS's validator checks neither.
  4. You get findings you can act on. A person reviews the automated results. Each finding is marked as a CMS requirement not met, likely inaccurate, or to verify, cites the rule and the rows behind it, and suggests a fix. Follow-up reviews show what changed.

Percentry scan of 129 Georgia hospitals · September 2026

Most Georgia files meet CMS's mechanical requirements. About half still have data that is likely inaccurate.

How we counted: in September 2026 our crawler visited the public websites of Georgia's 166 non-federal hospitals, and we reviewed 133 price files from 129 of them with the same checks as a Price File Review. Totals only; no hospital is named. More about the checks.

How Percentry stays independent

  • Percentry never reviews a file whose allowed amounts were calculated with its Allowed-Amount Percentiles tool.
  • Percentry never reviews a file it helped build, and it doesn't build or sell price-file generators.
  • Before a review starts, Percentry discloses any relationship with your price-file vendor.
  • Your team or your vendor makes the fixes, so follow-up reviews stay independent.
  • Your findings report goes only to your hospital.

Price File Review uses only your hospital's public files and no patient data. Georgia scan results are aggregate and name no hospital.
